“If you don’t do your dance, who will?” – Gabriel Roth

Dance & Movement

Here is one of the best documentaries I have found about ecstatic dance is the the one by Ken Martini entitled Leave your shoes at the door

Inside Out Community

Inside Out Community is a thriving community of artists, volunteers and members who use art and creativity as a way of maintaining their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

We run a range of well-being artistic workshops for adults with emotional and mental health needs. The programme involves visual arts, music, creative writing, dance and movement, and is delivered by professional artists with a sensitivity to mental and emotional health challenges.

Open To Life

The 5Rhythms comprise a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body, no matter what its shape, size, age, limitations and experience. To find your dance is to find yourself, at your most fluid and creative level. While the practice itself is the essence of simplicity, it has the power to catalyse deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: if you put the body in motion the psyche will heal itself.

Dancewise

Dancewise offers Resources for trauma release based on movement to rhythmic music.

Used with skill and sensitivity, dance, music and participatory arts provide life-changing supports for people emerging from trauma.

Dance is therapeutic in many interconnected ways. As awareness shifts to the here-and-now, anxieties drop away and jangled nerves are soothed. Structured rhythmic movement restores coherence. An experience of balance and 'flow' fosters poise, agency and helps people to interact. Frozen emotions thaw.

Human society worldwide has been shaped by our violent past.

For a harmonious, sustainable world we need to reconfigure our culture and our nervous systems towards trust and kindness. This project is part of that quest.
